Sun Tzu And The Art Of Blog Warfare

I flippantly mentioned SWAC Girl in my last post, who is a relatively new fixture on the Virginia political scene. I've seen her special brand of conservative thought in the Virginia Political Blog aggregator from time to time, but I haven't read her posts too extensively. (They generally got tiresome after the first sentence or two.) I just figured she was yet another rabid George Allen supporter with too much spare time on her hands, trying to turn to the new-fangled Internets blog medium to get her pre-Women's Suffrage message out before the elections. I thought she'd disappear again. But lo, she's still around after the elections, and less enlightened than ever, so in the best traditions of Sun Tzu, I read more of The Girl's blog today. In case you're wondering, her basic message is a somewhat less eloquent clone of Michelle Malkin's and Ann Coulter's messages: Liberals are evil and, like the minions of Sauron in Mount Doom, they must be stopped before it's too late. That's basically it. Staggering nuance, there.
Now don't get me wrong. I don't mind reading conservative philosophy when it's well written and thoughtful. But SWAC Girl, and many other Virginia conservative bloggers for that matter, are not terribly thoughtful. They're just reactive, feeding off of other blogs or newspapers, and they appear to think that propaganda, misdirection, and logical fallacies are the most effective tools to educate their readership. Oh, and name-calling. That's probably the most important part of education, really, when you think about it.
Anyway, here are a few choice quotes I found to exemplify SWAC Girl's thoughtful dialog.
"Silence. Where are the protests from the Left? I'm waiting...." [Plagarized straight from the Michelle Malkin mock outrage handbook...]
"Maybe in this kangaroo court of Waldo's he was just looking for a reason to deblog the Dog because he didn't agree with his political speech ... and this [posting a picture of a mutilated American] is his lame excuse." [No, objective reader, pay no attention to all the dozens of other untouched conservative blogs in Waldo's aggregator.]
"Or maybe you should watch "Obsession: The Movie" which is a docudrama about how they ["Middle Easterners"] are coming after us." [Do I even have to say anything? Maybe I do. It's a freakin' docudrama! Television is not reality! Don't you remember that episode of Night Court with Marion Ross?]
"[Waldo Jaquith wrote,] "Goode will be sworn in with the Bible" - What's wrong with that? This is a Christian country." [Again, do I have to say anything? Probably. This is a religion-neutral country.]
"Sun Tzu said know your enemy and you will win every battle. At this point, it would be useful to analyze the tactics used by the left and compile a list so that we can avoid being blindsided in the future. It would be good to hear your input. We on the right must pull together." [Anyone for a big heaping helping of Partisan Divide? Also, perhaps you wouldn't have been "blindsided" if you'd kept Goode from speaking in public in the first place.]
"I would encourage a person with time on their hands to start an aggregator and let the left come to us." [Apparently the Conservative War Aggregator isn't important enough to take up any of your precious time? You might actually consider paying someone to make this aggregator. That way you would support your local web programmer economy.]
Okay, that's a pretty good representative sample. It's sad that I have to resort to such snarkiness again on my blog, but it's a slow day.
Oh, and the silence from SWAC Girl is deafening on these accusations, so I must therefore be right. Wait, maybe I should post my post before proclaiming her deafening silence. Nah, that wouldn't be as dramatic. I'm posting...
